Detailed Eligibility Criteria

Meeting the RRB CMA eligibility criteria is the first and most crucial step for any applicant. The requirements are stringent and specific to the scientific nature of the job.

1. Nationality

  • The candidate must be a citizen of India.
  • A subject of Nepal or Bhutan is also eligible.
  • A Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling is eligible.
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India is also eligible.

2. Educational Qualification

This is a highly specific requirement for the RRB CMA post.

  • Minimum Qualification: A Bachelor’s Degree in Science (B.Sc.) with Physics and Chemistry as major subjects.
  • Minimum Percentage: Candidates must have secured a minimum of 45% marks in their B.Sc. degree. This requirement is mandatory and there is usually no relaxation in the minimum percentage.

3. Age Limit

The age limits are defined as per the official notification and include relaxations for various reserved categories.

  • General (UR) Category: 18 to 33 Years
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 18 to 36 Years (3 years relaxation)
  • SC/ST Category: 18 to 38 Years (5 years relaxation)
  • Ex-Servicemen: Age relaxation is provided as per the length of service plus 3 years.
  • Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): 10 years for UR, 13 years for OBC, and 15 years for SC/ST.

  • Chemistry: Principles of instrumental analysis, spectroscopy (UV-Vis, IR), chromatography (TLC, GC), and classical analytical techniques (titrimetry, gravimetry).
  • Quality Control: Concepts of quality assurance and quality control, sampling techniques, and statistical quality control (SQC).

Salary Structure and Career Growth

The RRB CMA salary is one of the most attractive aspects of the job. Being a Level 6 post, it offers a salary package equivalent to that of a Junior Engineer.

  • Pay Level: Level 6 of the 7th Pay Commission Pay Matrix.
